His exceptional pigeon BE221112894, known in the loft as RS 6, soared to a stunning victory in the 1st International Barcelona 2025, prevailing against 15,598 pigeons entered in this iconic marathon race from Spain to Belgium.

The Pigeon Fancier Anthony Pellitteri

Anthony is an extremely passionate pigeon fancier since age of 8, when he already had his own pigeon loft.He usually begin the racing season with a very small team: 6 old birds, about ten yearlings, and around fifty young birds. Anthony tells that he prioritize quality over quantity, and for the international victory in Barcelona, he only entered two pigeons!

He tells us that he plan to focus solely on extreme long-distance races in future.  His breeding loft now relies mainly on direct offspring from his 1st International Barcelona winner, which he will pair with descendants of top bloodlines — direct from 1st National and 1st International winners such as Batenburg (Lloyd Laureaat, Miss New Laureaat), Van Den Berg NL (Power Boy, Leontine), F. Zwiers (Bernard), Malfait (Ludo 1st Nat Libourne), Haelters (1st Int Perpignan 2024), Meirlaen (Best of Belgium), and Jellema (Jill, grandchild of MG430). From his home in Rongy, a small village on the FrenchBelgian border 998 km distance from Barcelona, Pellitteri watched with anticipation as the race unfolded. It turns our to be a hard race with head-wind and warm weather. RS 6 clocked an early lead with an average speed near 986 m/min, ultimately securing first place, followed by notable performances from top flyers across Europe.

What makes this achievement even more exceptional is RS 6’s consistent performance over previous seasons — including top results in Narbonne and Pau — proving that this was no oneoff star but a pigeon with remarkable endurance and class.

Behind every triumph lies careful planning, and Pellitteri’s dedication to preparing RS 6 well in advance was a decisive factor.
